Frequently asked questions
Is it monofloral?
We place hives where mānuka blooms on its own, in remote country, so the harvest is largely monofloral. The MGO grade reflects the mānuka character of that honey.
How should I store and eat it?
Keep it sealed in a cool, dark place. It can be taken by the spoon, spread on toast, or stirred into tea or porridge. It will naturally crystallise over time, which is normal for raw honey.
Why is it so dark and strong?
Mānuka honey is naturally dark, with a dense, earthy, slightly herbal flavour. The higher the grade, the stronger and more concentrated the character.
How is it graded?
Every batch is tested by an independent laboratory for its methylglyoxal content. The MGO figure on the jar is the tested level of that harvest, not a claim.
Is this honey a medicine?
No. Mānuka Ridge is a food — a honey, sold for its flavour and quality. It is not a medicine and is not intended to address any condition.
What does MGO 400+ mean?
MGO is a measure of the methylglyoxal content of the honey, in milligrams per kilogram. MGO 400+ means the batch tested at 400 mg/kg or higher — a mark of a concentrated monofloral mānuka honey.
